The Lifeboat Association has been based at Fleetwood for many years and has a distinguished record there. As in any seaport, the RNLI's presence was a very welcome one not only for the fishermen but for the thousands of pleasure sailors who enjoy the waters. The Fylde Coast was always a dangerous place for the unwary. Here the lifeboat assists a disabled yacht back to port. In the background the dredger Bleasdale works and an inshore fishing vessel, or prawner, is tied up alongside.
