The third Tynwald was a twin screw steamer built by Fairfield's at Govan in 1891 and was the first to be built for the company with a triple expansion steam engine and electric lights.Capable of carrying 904 passengers in First and Third class accommodation, she was first employed on the Douglas-Ardrossan run. Later she was switched to the Fleetwood-Douglas and Blackpool-Douglas routes. After she was sold in 1933 she was converted to a private yacht and renamed Western Isles. Between 1939 and 1945 she was in admiralty service as Eastern Isles and used as an accommodation vessel.
